3 centuries of consistently great wine!
This experience is especially for all wine lovers. There is nothing more authentic to Cape Town culture than tasting and enjoying our wide variety of local wines we produce here and combining this with a few “unique experiences” – like a heli-tour of the Cape Peninsula.
The day starts with a full peninsula heli tour from the V&A Waterfront before landing at Groot Constantia vineyards. Here we meet you in our 1958 Goggomobil and drive those, who are up for it, to the cellar for wine or straight to Simons or Jonkershuis restaurant for lunch.
The 1958 Goggomobil was restored by Neil Warren ( part owner of CTX ). For those enthusiasts it is a 300 CC two stroke air cooled 2 door sedan. Nothing too speedy but a quirky drive that does not come across your radar that often.
Groot Constantia is the oldest wine-producing farm in South Africa. A wine is best appreciated accompanied by a meal and chosen to suit the occasion. At Groot Constantia, you can do just that in either 2 of their gourmet, top-notch restaurants, Jonkershuis and Simon’s.
Pair an elegant Brut Rosé with a gourmet anniversary picnic on the beautiful lawns; choose a light and fresh Semillon for an al fresco lunch under the aged oaks; sip an expressive Pinotage during a family feast, or toast a milestone by the fireplace with a dignified glass of Gouverneurs Reserve.
Each pairing offers something unique.
Besides good wine, good food, and a really good time, Groot Constantia is also known for its magnificent location and scenery. Nestled in the fertile Constantia Valley and situated behind Table Mountain for its wine-growing potential, it truly offers one spectacular view.
The new Visitors Route at Groot Constantia offers a circular self-guided route of the heritage-rich core of the wine estate and offers the following activities: Explore the original Cape Dutch Manor House.
A Visit to the famed Cloete Cellar: the birthplace of Grand Constance. Some Wine tasting. The wine museum and cultural history museum. Be inspired by South African Art. Once you have feasted on all the extras that the estate has to offer, your helicopter will be waiting to transfer you back to the V&A Waterfront Heli pad.
